| Yolanda Blanco: Hudson River Swim For Life Honored Hero |
Birthday: September 13, 1962
Diagnosis: Follicular Non- Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Yolanda’s happy and healthy life changed one day in November 2007 when she had a lymphnode removed from he r right leg. Doctors discovered that she had Stage 4 Lymphoma and that the cancer had spread to her bone marrow.
Yolanda was placed on an intense chemotherapy protocol. She now receives treatments of the cancer drug, Rituxan, every six months, and will continue to do so for the next two years
Her treatment is working well. Yolanda is currently in remission and her prognosis is looking better each day.
Yolanda is grateful that The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is able to help her with monetary expenses and give her moral support as she battles cancer. Yolanda is staying strong. She says she will continue to fight for the rest of her life, especially with her wonderful family by her side.
Yolanda’s fighting spirit makes her a great candidate for the TV Show, Survivor, which she is applying for next fall.
We are happy to have Yolanda celebrate her birthday with us this year on the day of The Hudson River Swim For Life. She is truly an inspiration to us all!
